Digging Has Started!
First thing last Friday morning the digging began. Snort started digging the long trench that will house the heating/cooling tubing. That digging went fairly quick and finished up sometime early on Saturday afternoon. When I crawled down into the trench on Saturday evening it was more or less six feet deep.

On Monday morning Snort began digging the hole for the house itself. House digging has turned out to be much more work than the trench was. Instead of Snort just digging up big gobs of dirt, he has encountered a couple of large rocks. Unfortunately these rocks are bigger than Snort can just lift up so he switched the Snort bucket for a Snort claw. It kind of looks like a eagle talon used to chip the big rock down so the bucket can lift out the smaller rocks. When I went to the land on Monday evening, I saw the big rock that was giving Snort a run for his money. Snort is winning the battle, but what was supposed to be a one day event will probably turn into a three day job.
Tuesday brought out the heating people to bury the tube which ended up slowing Snort down on house digging because he had to stop digging in the house and switch to cleaning up the trench to make the heating people happy. Once that was done, Snort went back to chipping away at the big rocks and the dozer started filling the trench back up. As of Tuesday evening when I stopped by, the trench was all but closed up and Snort was making ever continual progress on the hole for the house.
Today is Wednesday. The rain that came thru didn't appear to slow Snort down much and he's picking away at the hole for the house. Snort hopes to be done either today or tomorrow. I sure hope today is the day.
