Day 47 and Brakes
Well, it is now day 47 since Snort first started doing any work. The concrete gentlemen are working away getting the foundation forms set up on the footer. They have just about the whole thing set up except that I'm getting nine foot walls instead of the standard eight. By having the extra foot, they need to put up the normal 8 foot forms and adding a 1 foot board to bring it up to the full nine feet. The last foot is all that needs doing yet.

One thing I noticed when wandering the site was the way they set up the opening to the "root cellar" which will go under the front porch. I've seen it mostly in the past where they end up cutting the concrete wall where the door will go. These guys built a wooden form which will be the opening. Makes sense to me as I'm not paying for concrete to be sawed out.
Spent some of last weekend working on Tony's brakes. The pedal went clear to the floor for him and his mother decided that maybe he ought not take the car to school with him when he goes. First week away at college this week. Sounds like he's doing fine.
Back to the brakes. Don't let anyone fool you. Back brakes suck when they are drum brakes. I can't imagine why the engineer who allowed drum brakes to survive the eighties hasn't been shot. Worked on them some more this evening. Got one side done. Got the other side ready to go. Both wheel cylindars need replacing which isn't helping any. Have I ever mentioned that drum brakes suck????
