Weather Photo -- Updated!
UPDATE! I was on TV! Well, not me, but my picture and my name. BrotherJoe saw it even. Well, saw and heard! I'm famous! Have had a couple people here at work mention it too so I know that BrotherJoe wasn't lying to me! Maybe I should write a book and do a tour! I could be rich! Rich I tell you!
I was at the house the other day checking up on things and noticed a weird cloud. Beings as I've been carrying around my camera a lot I took the following picture.

I sent the picture to LocalWeatherGuy from a TV station in BigCity and he sent back the following reply:

John:
Wow, what a great picture! You will be glad to know that you captured a
rare meteorological event.
From what I can gather from your picture, you observed a "hole punch"
cloud. It forms, believe it or not, from
A jet airplane flying over a mid or high level deck of clouds that
contains ice crystals. The vapour from the jet
engines provides a catalyst for the ice crystals in the existing clouds
to grow upon. As the ice crystals form,
They begin to fall as snow and literally punch a hole in the flat deck
of clouds. So your "funnel" that you
captured is actually falling ice crystals.
Can I show your picture on our morning show Friday?
Thanks for the picture!
Jeff

I'm pretty sure I didn't get my reply saying he certainly could use the picture on the air in time for Friday's show so I doubt it will be on the air. Maybe next time.
